Los Guatuzos, a world-class tourist attraction

 

The department of Río San Juan is one of the main wonders of nature that Nicaragua has, especially with regard to its exuberant vegetation and diverse fauna.

The Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge was declared the first wetland of world importance in Nicaragua as a Ramsar site, thanks to its great wild biodiversity you can make aquatic and terrestrial trails, where you will visit turtle and alligator site.

It is located on the southern shore of the lake, on the banks of the Papaturro River, 45 kilometers from San Carlos.

In the area, there is a telephone service, ecological center, a cafeteria, tourist water transport, bars, and two tourist guides.
